Spanish Pharmacy Label Requests Grew Significantly In California And Oregon In Q4 2024 Vs. 1st Half Of 2024

The Proprietary Database Of RxTran Data Also Showed That Filipino, Armenian & Portuguese Grew In Double Digits Over The Same Period At A National Level

Boston, MA – Wednesday, February 12th, 2024.  RxTran, a division of Language Scientific, is proud to announce the third of our proprietary data insights, on behalf of the Limited English Proficiency (LEP) population.  The US Census Bureau has previously reported that more than 350 languages are spoken in the United States, with nearly one in five people of the current population speaking a language other than English at home.

In August 2024, RxTran launched an education-focused initiative with the goal of creating awareness of what’s important to LEP people from a medical perspective.  Read our initial press release.

The second press release from the RxTran LEP pharmacy label translation database was published in October 2024.

Third Round Of Data — Double Digit Growth In Spanish Label Requests In CA & OR

An analysis of the proprietary pharmacy label based data, collected by RxTran from Q4 2024 in California and Oregon vs. the first half of 2024, showed strong growth in monthly Spanish pharmacy label requests:

  1. California (14.8% growth in monthly request in Q4 2024 vs the first half 2024)
  2. Oregon (10.9% growth in monthly request in Q4 2024 vs the first half 2024)

“We are seeing a notable increase in the demand for Spanish pharmacy label requests in California and Oregon, states with a historically large Hispanic populations,” said Language Scientific’s CEO Sharon Blank. “This trend is a clear foreshadowing of the importance and growth in critical mass of the Hispanic population, which can be expected to be duplicated across the entire country.”

At the same time, other immigrant languages also grew in prominence on a nation-wide basis:

  1. Filipino (15.7% growth in monthly request in Q4 2024 vs the first half 2024)
  2. Armenian (13.0% growth in monthly request in Q4 2024 vs the first half 2024)
  3. Portuguese (13.6% growth in monthly request in Q4 2024 vs the first half 2024)

“Providing safe medical treatment to the extremely large Hispanic-American population, as well as to all other immigrant communities that are growing in representation, is deeply embedded in our company’s mission,” Blank stated.

RxTran is committed to periodically publish insights gained from our proprietary database, to make sure LEP people and their language needs are fully addressed.
